The talented Olivier Theyskens may be surprisingly still out of a job, but the long-haired, doe-eyed designer is taking to the shelves with his first book. Teaming with photographer Julien Claessens and Vogue features editor Sally Singer, Theyskens gives us what he calls The Other Side of the Picture. Very catchy considering the designer’s career has been marred with clashes with corporatism (ie Nina Ricci and Rochas). The 180-page hardcover does make quite the argument of art over commerce with an insider’s look through 150 of the designer’s sketches and photos. Of Claessens work, Theyskens is none too pleased: ““Julien’s not running after the best-cut dresses. He’s running after the moment.” Take a look at the preview images of the $120 book here.
